Paro
Paro is one of Bhutan’s most important cultural and historical tourism destinations. It is also the location of Bhutan’s international airport.

Story of Paro
History and cultural significance
Paro has been an important centre of Buddhism and political history for centuries. It contains several sacred sites associated with Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) and later Buddhist masters.
The valley’s traditional houses, terraced fields and monasteries provide one of the clearest examples of Bhutanese cultural landscapes.
